One of the best things I’ve discovered since we’ve been part of the CCVI family is the Holidays in Crestwood. My first year, I volunteered at Breakfast with Santa and was awed by the attention to detail at that event and by the amazing gingerbread houses. Last year, I made sure to take Peanut, Sprout, and Efrit to Breakfast with Santa and made some amazing holiday memories with my family. This year, I’m volunteering again–this time on Thursday night–then heading over again Saturday for Breakfast with Santa with the family, and I’m so excited I can hardly wait.
Let me be blunt: if you are in the Kansas City metro area, have children and like Christmas at all you MUST go. The gingerbread buildings are the equal of anything you’ll see on Food Network’s Challenge. Last year, for instance, there was a 3′ tall, give or take, Victorian dollhouse with hand-painted wallpaper, paintings and teeny-tiny furniture–and it wasn’t even the winning house. Each of the merchants decorates their front window for a theme; last year’s Twelve Days of Christmas included actual live turtledoves.
This is year, the Holidays in Crestwood event is from December 5 to December 7. You can visit http://gingerbreadlane.org for more information, or check out the pictures of the mailer I received below:
